Elite Daily – News Trading Rule (funded only)

Updated this week

Elite Daily – News Trading Rule

Trading around major economic news events carries increased risk due to volatility, slippage, and rapid price movement.

For Elite Daily accounts, specific restrictions apply to funded accounts only.

Where the News Rule Applies

Stage

News Restriction

Evaluation

No restrictions

Funded

2-minute restricted window

During the evaluation phase, traders may trade news freely.

Once funded, restrictions apply.

Funded News Restriction Window

On funded Elite Daily accounts, you may not execute trades:

  • 2 minutes before a major news event

  • 2 minutes after a major news event

The total restricted window is 4 minutes.

What Counts as Executing a Trade?

The following actions are considered execution and are not allowed within the restricted window:

  • Opening a trade

  • Closing a trade

  • Opening a pending order

  • Modifying a stop loss

  • Modifying a take profit

  • Placing stop or limit orders

Any of these actions during the restricted window will be considered a violation.

Holding Trades During News

You may hold a trade during a news event if:

  • The position was opened before the 2-minute pre-news window

However:

  • If a trade is closed inside the restricted window → violation

  • If you modify stops or targets inside the window → violation

Your trade must not be closed by any means during the restricted news window.

What Happens If the Rule Is Violated?

If a funded trader violates the news rule:

  • Profits generated from the violating trade may be removed

  • The payout request may be denied

  • The account may be flagged for review

Repeated violations may lead to stricter action.

News violations do not automatically result in a hard breach unless abuse is detected.

What News Events Are Restricted?

Only major high-impact economic events are restricted.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • FOMC announcements

  • Federal Reserve rate decisions

  • Non-Farm Payrolls

  • CPI releases

  • Major central bank statements

If an event is classified as high impact on the official economic calendar used by Top One Futures, it falls under this rule.

You can track upcoming high-impact events using these official sources:

Low and medium impact events are not restricted.

Important Disclaimer
