How to Place a Take Profit and Stop Loss on the ProjectX platform

This article will help you place and manage your Take Profit and Stop Loss orders in ProjectX.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

There are two main ways to set these levels:

  • By interacting directly with your open position on the chart

  • By enabling automatic bracket orders with predefined risk and profit targets

πŸ–±οΈ Option 1: Add TP/SL from an Active Chart Position

If you already have an open position displayed on your chart, you can quickly add a TP or SL order directly from it.

Here’s how:

  1. Click on the position marker on your chart.

  2. Drag upward to place a Take Profit, or drag downward to place a Stop Loss (for long positions).
(For short positions, drag in the opposite direction.)

  3. Release to place the order at your desired price level.

Once your TP/SL orders are placed, you can manage them directly from the chart:

  • Drag to adjust the price level

  • Click the β€œX” on your TP/SL Order if you want to cancel it

This gives you a quick and visual way to control risk and lock in gains as the market moves.

βš™οΈ Option 2: Use Bracket Orders for Automatic TP/SL

For automated risk management, PJX offers two types of bracket order settings: Position Brackets and OCO Brackets.

You can choose the one that best fits your trading style. Full details on how they work and what makes them different can be found here:
